so much to explore...

The snow and shenanigans of Thunder Bay have been replaced, sigh, by the serious life of a teacher candidate. Not that teaching automatically equates no fun, but that's sort of the impression I've been getting from the first half of my five week teaching placement in Brampton. While curriculum guidelines and rubrics may be trying to steal my soul, I won't go down without a ruckus! So far it's been a ruckus of Shakespeare skits, The Chrysalids Jerry Springer style, and of course the occasional life-size rock-paper-scissors grammar tournament. Ah, outdoor education, how you've spoiled me... making me want everything to be fun and interesting.

Check out Water for Future Generations, a cross-Canada canoe trip aimed at raising awareness around water issues.

In other exciting news, I entered my first bike race ever yesterday, and after charging across many twisty tracks, evil rocks and even a scary narrow bridge just upstream from a 30' waterfall, I amazingly ended up in first place in the 20-29 year old women's division. Both funny and exciting!

Fourteen more days of placement (not that I'm counting or anything...) and then I'm heading out west, yeehaw!

First Place!! Congrats.. you are inspiring me to enter a biking tournament. Of course I will be sorely (no pun intended) disappointed when I come in last!
